Hi there!

We’re so glad you’re here. Before we dive into all the posts to come, we wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share a bit of our story.

We’re Jacob and Katlyn Boothe, a couple from North Carolina, USA. We’re both in our late 20s and recently became parents to a beautiful daughter.

We met while in high school in 2013 we then went onto college at Western Carolina University. Jacob graduated in 2019 with a degree in Emergency Medical Care and now works as a paramedic in a nearby city. Katlyn graduated in 2018 with a degree in Business Administration and Law and works as a technical writer for a pharmaceutical company. She’s also a freelance photographer. When we’re not working, we love attending car meets and spending time together as a family.

So, why a blog about Japan?

Jacob has been fascinated with modern Japanese culture since he was young. When we were planning our wedding, he surprised Katlyn by planning our honeymoon in Japan. At the time, neither of us had ever left the country, and it felt like the perfect way to begin our new adventure together. Unfortunately, that was in 2020, and as we all know, the world had other plans. Our honeymoon was postponed, but in the meantime, Katlyn began researching Japanese culture, antiques, art, and more. It quickly became a shared passion.

In 2023, we finally made it to Japan for our long-awaited honeymoon and we were instantly hooked. Since then, we’ve returned twice more and have continued to explore, learn, and fall deeper in love with the culture. While Katlyn is a photographer, neither of us feels totally at ease in front of the camera, so we decided to start a blog as a more comfortable and genuine way to share our experiences.

Our blog is dedicated to sharing our travel adventures, practical travel tips, insights into Japanese culture and traditions, and guidance for exploring Japan’s beautiful landscapes.

Some of the topics we plan to cover include language learning, cultural insights, travel tips, and a little bit of zatta (miscellaneous) content like recipes, photography, and lifestyle posts.

If you have a moment, please say hello in the comments! We’re truly excited about this project and can’t wait to see where it leads. Thank you for reading, and we hope you’ll visit again soon!

また後で!
